A LIBRARIAN’S ORIENTATION
What this book explores
A highly influential popular expression of manifestation and the law of attraction. Rhonda Byrne teaches that sustained thoughts and feelings attract corresponding experiences, extending the claim across success, relationships, money, and health. Best read as a cultural and spiritual artifact rather than an evidence-based account of how events occur.
EDITORIAL NOTE
Why it’s in the Library
The Secret did not originate New Thought, but it made manifestation language globally recognizable and continues to shape what many travelers mean by positive energy, abundance, and attracting an outcome. Its influence makes direct, careful orientation more useful than silence or caricature.
Good starting place if…
You want to understand the source that popularized contemporary law-of-attraction language or evaluate a teaching that friends, media, or wellness communities frequently reference.
Know before you begin…
There is no established scientific evidence that thoughts act as a law attracting wealth, illness, relationships, or other external events. The teaching can encourage hope, gratitude, and attention, but it can also imply that people caused their suffering through insufficient positivity. Illness, trauma, poverty, discrimination, abuse, and chance must not be reduced to a person's mindset, and medical or practical care should never be delayed.
